FACT: Geothermal systems provide the most efficient, comfortable and environmentally friendly method of heating & cooling.
OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., October 12, 2017 – ClimateMaster, a manufacturer of geothermal heating and cooling systems, celebrated the completion and dedication of Central Oklahoma’s Habitat for Humanity’s (COHFH) 500th home featuring a geothermal heat pump– driven heating and cooling system.
The home is located at 809 Blue Ridge in Moore. During the home dedication, COHFH and Chairman Anne Felton Gilliland presented the keys to Habitat homeowner and single mother, Annette Henderson and her three children, Charles (18), Lonato (13) and Aviliyah (4).
“The completion of the 500th geothermal build by Central Oklahoma Habitat represents the dedication and pride ClimateMaster takes in supporting the community. The installation of geothermal heating and cooling into the affordable housing model reduces future costs, both in utility and maintenance,” said Todd Graf, General Manager and President, ClimateMaster. “We are honored to work with an organization, such as Central Oklahoma Habitat, and to participate in the valuable work they do in supporting limited-income families in Oklahoma.”
“Thanks to our invaluable partnership with ClimateMaster, Central Oklahoma Habitat is the most energy efficient homebuilder in the state of Oklahoma. On average, our homes save families $700-to-$800 per year on their utility bills,” said Gilliland.
“Support for Central Oklahoma Habitat is alive throughout our organizations, with many employees volunteering to build homes as well as giving monetary donations,” said Rick Aldridge, CEO of The Climate Control Group. “Our employees recently raised over $5,000 for COHFH to send me Over The Edge, which allowed me to rappel 16 stories down the outside of a building in downtown Oklahoma City to raise awareness for the great work that COHFH does in our community.”
For Henderson, getting out of their overcrowded, two-bedroom apartment will give her and her children their own space and so much more.
“I usually start things and never finish, but not this time. This time, I was determined to succeed at becoming a homeowner and I am so close I can taste it,” said Annette Henderson, future Habitat homeowner. “I want my children to know their mother did all she could to make a better life for them.”
Henderson, who put in 300 hours in sweat equity, which serves as a down payment on the home, will make zero-percent interest mortgage payments once her family moves into the house.
“This home will give us a place of security and stability. It will give us a place to call ours, a place to feel free.”
