ClimateMaster’s contribution to geothermal heating and cooling may seem like a new technology to some, but the truth is, geothermal and other green energies are quickly becoming mainstream. For homeowners, it’s extremely beneficial to jump on board sooner rather than later, as some states have already made major strides to incentivize clean energy options which can be combined with federal incentives that are currently available through 2022.
The state of New York is laying a model clean energy initiative and has committed to becoming carbon neutral by 2040. The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority, known as NYSERDA, promotes energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy sources. Through NYSERDA, New York State will be investing over $450 million in heat pump incentives through utilities and over $200 million in market enabling.
In 2019, Governor Cuomo introduced the Green New Deal a nation-leading clean energy and jobs agenda that will aggressively put New York State on a path to economy-wide carbon neutrality. This landmark plan provides for a just transition to clean energy that spurs growth of the green economy and prioritizes the needs of low-to-moderate income New Yorkers.
ClimateMaster has partnered with green energy expert Ron Kamen to educate homeowners about why the right time to make the switch to geothermal heating and cooling is now.
“Energy is 90% of the climate disaster that we're currently facing. For over 30 years, it’s been my life's mission to figure out how to help people make the transition to clean energy and save money. And that's really the key because I believe that saving money over the long term is the way that we achieve true sustainability,” Ron says.
Ron’s show, The AWESome EarthKind Podcast, aims to inspire everyone with the knowledge of how forces of nature can power electricity, heat and transportation needs, and create a more just and prosperous society–all while saving money. That’s why ClimateMaster has partnered with Ron to offer free webinars to help New Yorkers learn how they can take advantage of their state-wide Clean Heat Program.
The NYS Clean Heat Program is a collaborative effort between the New York Electric Utilities and the New York State Energy Research & Development Authority (NYSERDA) designed to provide customers, contractors, and other heat pump solution providers a consistent experience and business environment throughout New York State.
The program offers incentives supporting customer adoption of eligible heat pump technologies–both cold climate air source and ground source systems–and encourages promotion by contractors and other heat pump solution providers. Through the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act, New York State move beyond governor-level and administrative leadership to where they've now codified and made it the law that New York State is moving towards 100% clean renewable electricity by 2040 in addition to an 85% reduction in overall greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
The state is rolling out technologies which will help New Yorkers get off of fossil fuels, eliminate oil propane, natural gas, and even wood. New Yorkers have more reason than ever to move towards air and ground source heat pumps. Combined with the current 26% federal tax credit for geothermal systems, state incentives now give residents in most parts of New York an average of 50% reduction in what the usual costs of geothermal would be.
ClimateMaster and Ron Kamen’s partnering campaign to create public awareness for carbon emissions reduction solutions aims to reach various sectors in as many different areas of the residential population as possible. With dramatic legislative goals to reduce emissions in our future ClimateMaster’s commitment to helping educate citizens about geothermal heating and cooling technologies is only growing. Our goal is to help people understand how to make the transition, no matter where they live.
