Environmental Health & Safety Administrator

Summary:
 Assist Environmental Health & Safety Manager in compliance with all federal, state, local, and company safety and environmental rules and regulations. 

Requirements:

  • Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply federal, state, and local environmental, safety, and health regulations, laws, codes, etc.
  • Good oral and written communication skills. Must have good group presentation skills. 
  • Willing to follow instructions, respond to management direction, and keep commitments.
  • Work extended hours as needed.
  • Respond to workplace issues or emergencies during non-regular working hours. 
  • Good computer skills (experience with Microsoft office products, Adobe).
  • Good math skills.
  • Able to read and understand government regulations and company drawings and documents.
  • Able to create technical (i.e., electrical, confined space, etc.) environmental and safety programs and procedures.
  • Two years of relevant experience or degree in related field preferred.

 

Duties:

  • Inspects and audits organization’s facilities to detect potential incident and health hazards. Takes immediate action if issue is imminent danger.
  • Acts as a member of the First Response Team. 
  • Actively participates as member of the Safety Oversight Committee.
  • Actively participates as a member of the Stormwater Pollution Control Team.
  • Conducts, and improves as needed, safety orientation of new hires. 
  • Conducts, and improves as needed, OSHA required safety training and driver evaluations. 
  • Develops or improves safety and environmental programs, procedures, and processes.
  • Responsible for development and placement of information, signs, posters, barriers, and other materials to warn of potential and actual safety hazards and to prevent access to hazardous conditions.
  • Investigates accidents and injuries and determines causation factors and corrective action. 
  • Prepares material and evidence for organization use in hearings, lawsuits, and insurance investigations.
  • Assists with MSDS program and a chemical listing for all chemicals used on this site. 
  • Maintains safety files and records.
  • Conducts and improves general training classes (schedules classes, inform attendees and instructors of class times, updates course materials, maintains training records, etc.) and improves and expands the overall training effort.
  • Responds via phone and/or in person as necessary to safety and security issues, some of which may occur during non-regular working hours such as evenings, holidays, and weekends.
  • Any other duties as assigned by Environmental Health & Safety Manager or Director of Human Resources.
