ClimateMaster Inc. teams up with Air Products Supply to support a young Oklahoman
in his quest to compete on Team USA

Oklahoma City, OK – June 16, 2008 – ClimateMaster and Air Products Supply co-presented a giant check in the amount of $1000 to 16-year-old Team USA athlete, Colin Cutter at the ClimateMaster plant June 13, 2008. The ceremony recognized Cutter for being selected to compete at the Junior World Championships, held in conjunction with WSUSA 2008 National Junior Disability Championships in New Jersey, July 19-27. In addition to the check, the organizations and the Cutter family exchanged t-shirts branded ‘Team Cutter’ to show their support.

Born with lower-body paralysis due to Spina Bifida, Colin requires the use of a wheelchair to participate in athletics. He has competed in wheelchair sports since the age of four, and currently holds 22 National Titles. Being part of Team USA fulfills Colin’s goal set at the age of eight. Each Junior Disability Championship holds competitions in Olympic-style events including track, field, pentathlon, swimming, archery, table tennis, 3-on-3 wheelchair basketball and weightlifting.

“Competing in adaptive sports is exciting and fulfilling. It isn’t cheap,” says Colin, “Each sport that I compete in requires me to have a sport specific chair as well as other equipment such as field implements, racing gloves, helmets and uniforms.”

Thanks to ClimateMaster and Air Products Supply, the financial burden placed on the Cutter family to get Colin to the competition is diminishing.

The National Junior Disability Championships (NJDC) began in July of 1984 and consisted of only three events sanctioned by Wheelchair Sports, USA for wheelchair athletes. Since that time, the NJDC have grown to include over 250 athletes, ranging in ages from 7-21, with spinal injuries, cerebral palsy, visual impairments, amputations, limb deficiencies, and other congenital anomalies from all over the United States and several foreign countries.

“Your generosity will help me realize my dream…” says Colin, “to be an athlete representing the United States of America!”
