ClimateMaster President Assumes International Leadership Position

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK, January 31, 2004-- Daniel Ellis, president of ClimateMaster, Inc., has been appointed Chair of the air conditioners and heat pumps standards subcommittee within the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Ellis will serve a six-year term on the subcommittee known as TC86/SC6 and will be eligible to serve longer.

The ISO is an organization that promotes and advances international consensus-based standardization worldwide in everything from signage to digital technology to measurements. There are currently 147 member nations participating in ISO's technical committees, subcommittees, and over 2,000 working groups responsible for standards development.

In this age of information, worldwide markets have developed the need for standards that apply globally. These standards not only establish valuable communication tools, but also help to level the information playing field and foster technology growth in developing countries. This goal is reached by the gathering of industry experts from around the world to participate in ISO committees who are assigned specific objectives. The ISO coordinates these committees to research and develop global standards through consensus among the international representatives.

"International standardization and related activities have an increasingly important role for an evolving world market which calls for a harmonized system capable of supporting free trade on optimal and equitable terms," said Daniel Gerundino, ISO Strategic Advisor to the Secretary-General.

Ellis brings over 20 years of air conditioning and heat pump experience to the ISO. He is also convenor of an ISO working group that has already established two international standards for water source heat pumps. As one of the pioneers of closed-loop geothermal heat pump applications in Northern climates, his technical contributions to the industry include the development of residential energy analysis and system design software, design procedures for commercial geothermal systems, and development of the industry's first line of advance technology water source heat pumps.

"We are proud to have Dan serve the industry in this capacity, " said Steve Golsen, CEO of ClimateMaster, Inc. "We believe his knowledge and expertise will be a valuable asset to the ISO."

Ellis is a member of the Air-Conditioning and Refrigeration Institute (ARI), the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineer (ASHRAE), and a member of the U.S. Team for the International Energy Agency (IEA) Heat Pump Centre. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Council to the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA). He is past chairman and is a recipient of the IGSHPA Leadership Award.

ClimateMaster, Inc., headquartered in Oklahoma City, leads the world in the design and manufacturing of water source heat pumps for geothermal, commercial, industrial and residential applications.

ClimateMaster, Inc. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of LSB Industries, also headquartered in Oklahoma City.
